Have you ever read Moby Dick? Or, have you ever picked it
up with the intention of reading it, then gotten like 15-20 pages in
and suddenly realized that life is short and you should be living it? I
imagine that this is a rather common occurrence, not only with
Melville's classic, but many others as well, perhaps Frankenstein or
the Three Musketeers. I mention those because at various points in my
life I've tried to read them. Now, I am a patient reader, and I like to
really dig into a good book. Here's the thing. The "classics",
especially, I dunno, EVERYTHING written before like 1920 is DEAD
FREAKING BORING. I decided to give Dick a shot, I even went the
audiobook route, hoping that the reading would add.... some drama? Some
extra level of interest? NO. This did not happen. It is exTREMEly
boring. Also, a note to dead authors: STAY ON TOPIC. Focus on the
telling of the story that you set out to tell. Just a little. Thanks.
So Christmas is fast approaching, innit? How about that? Snow, huh? It's cold outside. Whatever.
Is it nap time yet? It really should be. I think I'm gonna go look into that.
